Marry Me However

October 6, 2021

Mordechai Vardi

63 min | 2020 | Israel | US Premiere

This film explores the lives of Orthodox-Jewish LGBT members who willingly choose to marry heterosexuals and raise a heteronormative family, obeying the rules of society while denying their own identities, bringing about marriages with a partner who cannot give them what they really need, physically or emotionally and resulting in children growing up in a distorted family system. Although the film deals with Orthodox Jewish society, it is a universal theme, because in all religions around the world same-sex marriage is forbidden, and all over the world many LGBT people try to disguise their identity by "normative marriage".

Official Selection: Docaviv FF, Tel Aviv

Alan and Adriana are emptying their place. While trying to take a queen size bed out of their room, the bed gets stuck, separating them, disabling them to be together. The impossibility of seeing one another, will transform into an opportunity for this couple to finally be honest, and recognize the reasons why they have decided not to live together anymore.
